Schools can claim additional funding for providing food parcels during the national lockdown

According to the latest guidance from the UK government, schools are encouraged to work with their catering team or food provider to provide food parcels to eligible free school meal pupils who are at home. Schools can claim for additional funding of £3.50 per week for each eligible pupil receiving food parcel provision at home.

For more information on the UK government’s advice, please follow the link here.

There is also a Guidance on Free School Meals article here which has been produced by the Lead Association for Catering in Education, Public Health England and the Department for Education (DfE) which sets out some general principles for putting together a food parcel which will allow parents and carers to prepare simple and healthy lunches for their children at home across the week.

If you currently work with Dukefield Foodservice, you should have already received an email communication from us with an outline of options available to you using our food contracts. This should help you to plan any food parcels you are putting together for your students. If you haven’t received this, please contact us and we will re-send you the information.

As always, we are here to support you with any queries, especially at this difficult time so if you have any questions or need anything further, please contact the team on 01204 374062 or email info@dukefieldfood.com.
